Man’s finger bitten off in homeless shelter melee

One man had a finger bitten off and another was nearly beaten to death during a bloody brawl at a Brooklyn homeless shelter, police said.

The two combatants clashed inside the shelter on Chauncey Street in Bushwick around 9:20 p.m. before the 41-year-old man chomped off a 49-year-old man’s finger.

The older man then pummeled his opponent until he was beaten unconscious, police said.

They were both taken to Brookdale Hospital where the younger man is said to be in critical condition. The other man was treated for the hand injury and is expected to survive.
