A Queens high school was put on lockdown Tuesday after a 14-year-old boy — the son of a school safety agent — was slashed in the forehead by a classmate, officials said.
The student was attacked inside Benjamin Cardozo High School on 223rd St. near 58th Ave. in Bayside about 9 a.m.
The teen suffered a minor slash wound to his forehead, officials said. Medics took him to an area hospital.
Greg Floyd, the president of the school safety agents union, said Cardozo doesn’t have a metal detector.
“What will it take for the mayor to allow scanners in all schools?” Floyd said.
The school was placed on on lockdown as cops hunted for his assailant, who was later arrested and charged with assault and criminal possession of a weapon, officials said.
“The safety of students and staff is our top priority, and NYPD and EMS immediately responded to a serious incident at Cardozo High School this morning where a student was transported to the hospital in stable condition,” said Education Department spokeswoman Miranda Barbot.
“We are working with NYPD as they conduct an investigation, and are taking additional safety measures at the school,” she added.
