Hoops for Haiti

Help the People of Haiti
Saturday, October 8, 2011
Taino Towers Gymnasium & Red Carpet Theatre - 240 E. 123rd St., NYC

City Employees Union Local 237 of the Teamsters, along with community partners is organizing a fundraiser— Hoops for Haiti—to help Haitians who remain injured and sick in the aftermath of the January 2010 earthquake. The goal of Hoops for Haiti is to raise funds for the Registered Nurses Response Network, a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization, which has sent multiple deployments of volunteer nurses to the island.

The idea for the Hoops for Haiti campaign originated with Local 237 retiree Helen Mashburn, an NBA mother and chair of the union’s Retiree Sunshine Club. The full day of activities will include a BASKETBALL CAMP for neighborhood youth led by current and retired NBA players, a SUPPORT HAITI CULTURAL EVENT, CONCERT & SILENT AUCTION, and RAFFLES.

Please join Local 237, our community partners, and Helen in making Hoops for Haiti a success.
