Newsline: August 2000 AFL-CIO WIRES WORKING FAMILIES TO THE INTERNET The AFL-CIO has created a gateway for affiliated union members to access the world wide web. Workingfamilies.com has been customized for Teamsters and is accessible through Local 237's new website: Local237teamsters.com or directly through the international website: teamsters.workingfamilies.com. This new internet community is designed for union members and is union friendly. Through teamsters.workingfamilies.com you can surf the net, get the news and weather reports, e-mail friends and family and even shop for union-made products in the web's only union-friendly marketplace. Workingfamilies.com also provides benefits, information and activities of special interest to working families. Workingfamilies.com is a partnership between the 68-union, 13 million-member AFL-CIO and iBelong, Inc., an internet technology company specializing in customized portals (web gateway) for membership organizations. Workingfamilies.com will make internet services available to union members for $14.95 a month. That's a 25% savings off most providers' standard monthly rates. Members can also purchase home computers with full financing for as low as $600.00. The goal is to bring families online for under $30.00 per month. Call 1-800-806-2150 to receive a free start-up disk or if you already have internet service visit teamsters.workingfamilies.com to switch providers and begin saving. |
