New York City Labor Chorus gala concert -- Friday, May 30, 2003
The New York City Labor Chorus, a major institution in the cultural life of New York City's labor movement, is celebrating its 12th Anniversary with a gala concert at the Fashion Institute of Technology on Friday, May 30, at 8 p.m., and you are invited to help them mark this special occasion.
The chorus will perform in the college's Haft Auditorium, (C) Building, 7th Avenue and West 27 Street in Manhattan.
The Labor Chorus is composed of 75 members from 25 different union locals, crossing generational lines and ethnic communities. Peter Shlosser, renowned choral conductor, is the Labor Chorus's new musical director and will conduct this concert.
The chorus performs music in many traditions, singing songs and celebrating labor struggles, the diversity of the cultures of the working people and songs of protest. The chorus performs regularly at labor events, picket lines, rallies and demonstrations.
