The Immigrant Workers Freedom Ride Rally at Flushing Meadows Corona Park -- a day that will live forever in the memory of those who attended.

From His Eminence Edward Cardinal Egan to Congressman John Lewis and from AFL-CIO President John Sweeney to headlining performer Wyclef Jean the message was clear: now is the time for change.

The energized crowd of over 100,000 called for the four principals that served as a foundation and guide for the Freedom Ride:

  • the right to pursue citizenship
  • the reunification of families
  • a voice on the job regardless of status
  • the protection of civil rights of all men and women

The Central Labor Council thanks the many unions, community groups, faith leaders, and activists who dedicated so much of their summer to helping the “stranger.” (Check www.nycclc.org for more photos.)
