If your annual household income is below $38,000, you may qualify for the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) -- a cash refund of up to $6,000 from the government! But you must file a tax return for this year, even if you don't owe taxes. (You may also file amended returns for past years in which you were eligible for EITC, but failed to claim it.) Additionally, all Local 237 members filing tax returns on joint annual income of $40,000 or less -- or on individual income of $20,000 or less -- are now eligible for FREE tax preparation services provided by the Union.
