Teamsters Join Protest Against Korean Anti-Unionism
Local 237 officials joined other Teamsters and Change to Win members at a protest Nov. 15 in front of the South Korean Consulate across from the UN. The protestors decried government repression of the labor movement in South Korea, where over 100 union offices have been violently shut down in a recent crackdown on the KGEU, a public sector union.

One union member was killed in police attacks on strikers in three Korean cities and 300 have been jailed.
The protestors called for the government of South Korea to respect labor’s rights and to adhere to the U.N.’s ILO conventions.
Representing the Teamsters, Local 237 Trustee Ruben Torres delivered a letter of protest to the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea.
