Housing Division Pact Ratified by 97 Percent


Local 237’s Housing Division members ratified a new contract by a 97.4 percent vote on July 31. The ballots were counted at union headquarters on 14 St. in Manhattan by an independent election group, Election Services Corp. The new contract covers the period from Dec. 24, 2006, to Dec. 14, 2008. Housing Division members can expect the following:


Wage Increases

  • 1 percent wage increase effective Jan. 24, 2007.

  • 5 percent wage increase (compounded) effective July 24, 2007.

  • The general wage increases will be applied to most allowances, increments, and differentials (not including the 15-year longevity differential) with the total amount not to exceed 0.11 percent of payroll.


    Welfare fund Increases

  • $166.67 one-time employer payment into the Local 237 active and retiree welfare funds.

  • $100 annual increase to the active and retiree welfare fund (12/14/08).

  • $200 annual increase in the employer contribution to the retiree welfare fund (9/24/07).

    The agreement provides the average Local 237 member earning $36,300 a year at the end of the last contract with an additional base pay of $2,577 annually.
