Each year since 1962, when President John F. Kennedy designated Peace Officer Memorial Day and National Police Week on May 15, we make time to honor the memory of law enforcement officers who gave their lives and those who risk their lives daily in service to the public.

This year several city agencies held special events throughout the boroughs to recognize their law enforcement officers.

Local 237 officials Derek Jackson, director, Law Enforcement Division, and Charlie Cotto, business agent, Citywide Division, were on hand at many of the events to congratulate the officers.
