Retirement Day!

For many it means achievement, fulfillment and great expectations. For others it may signal uncertainty, confusion and apprehension. According to the "experts"...those who have entered this period of life and know first hand its pleasures and pitfalls, the most important f actor for successful retirement is planning ahead and starting as early as possible.

To assist members in this very important process, Local 237 Retiree Benefit Fund makes available to all members the following services through the Retiree Division:

Retirement Planning Seminar
Each year in the spring and the Fall, sessions convene for 6 weeks, with experts from Social Security, your pension system, New York City health insurance plans and the union's welfare fund. Money management experts offer valuable information.

Pension Counselor Appointments
Individual sessions can be scheduled with a pension counselor to go over your specific situation and concerns. Appointments can be made for Thursdays.

Retiree Division Staff and Activities
To ensure that retired members remain active and involved in a variety of interests, the Retiree Division maintains a full calendar of activities.

In addition, Retiree Division staff is available to help members and their dependents resolve problems great or small. Whether your idea of an "ideal" retirement includes travel, continuing your education, relocating to another area or just enjoying one day at a time, planning ahead will help make your retirement years a time to enjoy.
