Local 237 extends our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Sgt. Griselde Camacho, a campus peace officer at Hunter College, and to all those who lost a loved one as a result of the explosion in East Harlem on March 12th.

Camacho was an outstanding member of Local 237. In 2010, she was recognized by the college's Public Safety Department as Peace Officer of the Year and received the Lieutenant Award for Public Safety Achievement.

Her passing is a great loss for all of us.

Hunter College plans to bring grief counselors on site for students and staff, and has invited grieving members of the community to call the CUNY Work/Life program at 800-833-8707.
