On Monday, May 4, the Local 237 member negotiation committee voted unanimously to accept NYCHA's latest contract proposal and recommended ratification to the full Housing Division membership.

Local 237 President Gregory Floyd, who led negotiations, explained, "This committee fought hard for a fair settlement. NYCHA finally agreed to give us what they gave to other employees. With this contract, we will achieve equality with City workers."

Consistent with the Citywide pattern, the offer includes a 10.41% raise (compounded) over the life of the contract, a $1,000 lump sum bonus and retro pay back to 2012. NYCHA took its earlier demands for around the clock staffing without premium pay off the table.

The contract proposal will now go to Housing Division members for ratification. Members will receive a letter providing details of the proposal as well as a ballot by mail early next week. All members are urged to mark and mail their ballot. The contract vote will be tallied May 22.
