The two-year plan to shift oversight of School Safety Agents from the Police Department to the Department of Education has continued to come under scrutiny, with the union leader who represents them warning of problems once the transition is made.
Although the shift was announced as part of the $88.1-billion budget that the City Council approved June 30, School Safety Agents will remain under NYPD jurisdiction over the next year.
