ANOTHER FIRST IN PLAYBOOK: Teamsters Local 237 is endorsing Rep. Dan Goldman in his bid for reelection, giving him a labor boost against challenger Brad Lander.
The primary between a progressive incumbent backed by Democratic Party leadership and Hochul, and a more progressive challenger with Mamdani and the Working Families Party in his corner, is set to be one of the most competitive of the cycle. Goldman and Lander are facing off for a seat covering parts of Manhattan and Brooklyn in New York’s 10th District.
“A member of the Labor Caucus and co-founder of the Dads Caucus, Rep. Goldman knows what it takes to fight and win for working families and organized labor,” Teamsters Local 237 President Gregory Floyd said in a statement. “He delivered more good-paying jobs for New Yorkers, championed legislation that protects the right to organize, wants to make the ultra-wealthy pay their fair share and more.”
Goldman, a scion of the Levi Strauss family, has called for taxes on the rich like himself.
The incumbent also was recently endorsed by the National Association of Letter Carriers. — Emily Ngo
