Local 237 has created a new Social Services Department. For the first time, members participating in the Local 237 Welfare Fund can access free, professional social services. Our members have tough jobs and, from time to time, we all encounter tough personal challenges. Our union is committed to helping members find possible solutions to those challenges. Local 237’s licensed social workers are here to connect people to much needed assistance and resources. They also facilitate positive change through their work.
Areas of Support
- Caregiver and Respite Support
- Mental Health
- Family Issues
- Health and Wellness
- Grief and Loss
- Substance and Alcohol Use/Abuse
- Work Life Balance and Stress Reduction
- Single Parenthood
Plans for the department include Resource Fairs and meetings focusing on specific areas of concern for the membership.
Under the guidance of Director Ayana Ali, LCSW, a licensed clinical social worker with a specialization in case management and mental health services as well as a successful past history of servicing 237 members, the department will bring important information about community supports in the city and greater New York area to our membership’s fingertips.
